The journey from amateur MMA to the professional ranks is rarely straightforward. It takes years of competition, setbacks, adjustments and continued development to establish yourself at the next level.
Armand “The Crane” Herczeg has experienced that journey firsthand.
Originally born in Komló, Hungary, and fighting out of Dundalk, Ireland, Herczeg has spent years developing on the Irish MMA circuit before taking his career into professional competition.
Now competing at bantamweight and representing Manchester Top Team, Armand currently holds a 6-3 professional MMA record and has put together an impressive five-fight winning streak.
Long before his current professional run, Armand accumulated considerable experience as an amateur.
His recorded amateur career stretches back to 2018 and saw him compete on promotions including Cage Legacy, Clan Wars, Cage Warriors Academy Ireland, Chaos FC, IÚR Fighting Championship and Premier FC.
Those years provided plenty of opportunities to experience both sides of competition.
There were wins, losses and difficult matchups, but each contest contributed towards the experience needed to eventually make the transition into professional MMA.
One characteristic that became particularly apparent during this period was Armand’s ability to find submissions.
Guillotine victories became a recurring feature of his amateur career, alongside other finishes including a triangle choke.
Armand eventually transitioned into the professional ranks in 2023.
His professional debut came against Radek Roušal at OKTAGON 45 in Prague, with the contest going the full three rounds before Armand lost a close split decision.
His involvement with OKTAGON would continue as part of the promotion’s Challenge England vs. Ireland series.
That period provided valuable experience against international opposition and represented another significant step beyond the regional amateur circuit where his career had developed.
Professional MMA, however, would ultimately become a story of persistence for Armand.
Following the early challenges of his professional career, Armand began putting together a run of victories.
That run has now reached five consecutive professional wins.
It has also demonstrated that Armand is capable of finishing fights in different ways.
His current professional record includes victories by TKO, submission and decision, highlighting the increasingly well-rounded nature of his game.
Among those victories was a first-round guillotine submission over Ash Walters, followed by a unanimous decision victory against Denilson Souza.
Armand then captured another major result when he faced Ryan Morgan at SFC 7, stopping Morgan with ground-and-pound in the third round.
The victory added further momentum to a career that was beginning to move quickly.
In March 2026, Armand stepped onto one of the biggest stages of his professional career when he competed at Cage Warriors 201.
Standing across from him was Percy Herrera.
The fight reached the third round before Armand secured the finish, stopping Herrera with a knee followed by strikes at 1:57 of round three.
It was another TKO victory and extended his professional winning streak to five.
More importantly, it demonstrated that the progress made throughout years of amateur and professional competition could translate onto the Cage Warriors stage.
Another important part of Armand’s development has been his move through different weight divisions.
Throughout his amateur and early professional career, he competed across lightweight and featherweight contests.
More recently, however, bantamweight has become an important part of his professional career.
At 6’1″, Armand is notably tall for the division, giving “The Crane” a distinctive frame when competing against other bantamweights.
Combined with the finishing ability demonstrated throughout his career, it creates an interesting challenge for opponents.
Looking only at Armand’s current winning streak doesn’t tell the full story.
His career has included defeats, difficult amateur contests and the challenge of moving from regional competition into international professional MMA.
Those experiences are part of what makes his current run particularly interesting.
Armand didn’t arrive in professional MMA with an untouched record.
Instead, he accumulated experience through repeated competition, continued developing and has now turned that experience into the strongest run of his professional career so far.
His record demonstrates a fighter capable of winning in multiple ways.
Of his six professional victories currently recorded by Tapology, three have come by TKO, two by submission and one by decision.
At 6-3 professionally and riding five consecutive victories, Armand has built significant momentum.
His most recent appearance saw him secure a third-round stoppage on the Cage Warriors stage, adding another finish to a professional record that continues to develop.
From years spent competing across the Irish amateur circuit to appearances with OKTAGON and now Cage Warriors, Armand’s career demonstrates how much can change when a fighter continues competing and improving through both victories and defeats.
The amateur prospect who began building his record on Irish shows has developed into an established professional bantamweight.
And with five victories in succession, Armand “The Crane” Herczeg’s next chapter will certainly be one to follow.
